Revit Models Built From Your Drawings

A Revit model keeps plans, sections, elevations and quantities in one file. When the design changes, your team updates one model instead of many separate drawings. We build models for architects, contractors and developers across the USA and Canada.

What We Model in Revit

Architectural Elements

Walls, floors, roofs, doors, windows, stairs and finishes.

Structural Elements

Footings, slabs, columns, beams and framing, as shown on your drawings.

MEP Systems

Ductwork, piping, plumbing fixtures, electrical and lighting layouts.

Schedules and Quantities

Door, window and material schedules taken from the model.

Sheets and Views

Plans, sections and elevations set up from the model.

Families

Custom Revit families when your project needs them.

Revit Modeling Support for Your Team

Need extra modeling capacity? We support architecture firms and contractors with Revit modeling, so your staff can focus on design, coordination and client work.

How We Build a Revit Model

We start by setting up the model correctly: levels, grids, project units and shared coordinates, using your template if you have one. A clean setup matters because every later element depends on it, and fixing levels or coordinates after modeling is slow and risky.

Then we model the building in the order it is built: structure and walls, floors and roofs, openings, stairs, ceilings and finishes, followed by MEP systems when they are in scope. Views, sheets and schedules are set up as we go, so the model is ready to produce drawings, not just a 3D picture.

Families, Templates and Standards

Revit families are the building blocks of a model: doors, windows, fixtures, equipment and annotation. Using the right families keeps the model light and the schedules accurate. We use your family library and template when you provide them, and build custom parametric families when the project needs items that are not available.

  • Your view templates, line styles, text and dimension styles
  • Your title blocks and sheet numbering
  • Shared parameters for schedules and quantities
  • Naming conventions for families, types and views
  • Worksets for larger models and team collaboration

Revit Versions and File Compatibility

Revit files cannot be opened in an older version of Revit than the one they were saved in. Before we start, we confirm which version your team uses and work in that version, so you can open and edit the model without upgrade problems. We can also export DWG drawings, PDFs and IFC files from the model when you need to share it with people who do not use Revit.

Linked Models and Coordination

On many projects, architecture, structure and MEP are modeled in separate files that are linked together. We set up linked models with shared coordinates so they line up, and we can model one discipline to link into your existing model. Revit interference checks help us find conflicts between linked models, so they can be resolved before drawings are issued.

When conflicts need a design decision, we report them with views and notes so your team can decide quickly.

Who Uses Our Revit Modeling

Architecture firms send us overflow modeling, CAD-to-Revit conversion and documentation work. Contractors use our models for coordination, constructability review and quantities. Developers and owners use models to review designs and keep a reliable record of their buildings. MEP and structural engineers use us to model their designs into the project model.

CAD to Revit Conversion

Many firms still have projects drawn in AutoCAD. We convert 2D CAD or PDF drawings into Revit models, rebuilding walls, doors, windows, floors and roofs as real Revit elements rather than tracing lines. This gives you a model you can keep developing, with schedules and views that update automatically.

Conversion is a good time to clean up a project. Duplicate or conflicting information in old CAD files is flagged, and the new model is built on clean levels and grids. Once the model exists, future changes are made in one place instead of on many separate drawings.

Revit Terms Explained

Family
A Revit component, such as a door or fixture, with adjustable parameters.
Template
A starting file with standard settings, views, styles and title blocks.
Shared coordinates
A common coordinate system that keeps linked models aligned.
Workset
A way to divide a model so several people can work in it at once.
Schedule
A table generated from the model, such as a door schedule or material quantities.

Model Health and Performance

Large Revit models can become slow and unstable if they are not managed. We keep models healthy by purging unused families, avoiding unnecessary detail, limiting in-place families, resolving warnings and organizing views with clear naming. A well-organized model opens faster, syncs faster and is easier for your team to take over.

Before handover, we also run a final cleanup and review the warnings list with you.

Documentation From the Model

A Revit model is most valuable when it produces the drawings. We set up floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, sections, elevations, enlarged plans and details on sheets with your title block, along with door, window, room and finish schedules. Because they come from the model, these sheets stay consistent when the design changes, which saves hours of manual checking.

Questions We Ask Before Modeling

  • What will the model be used for: design, documentation, coordination or quantities?
  • Which disciplines and which LOD are needed?
  • Do you have a template, family library or BIM execution plan?
  • Which Revit version does your team use?
  • What are the deadlines and review milestones?

Revit for Contractors and Quantities

Contractors use Revit models to understand a building before they build it. A model helps with constructability reviews, site logistics and sequencing, and it gives quantities that can be checked against the estimate. Because Nextron also prepares construction estimates, we set up model schedules with the parameters estimators need, such as wall types by area, doors by type and floor finishes by room.

Reviews and Updates

We send model views and PDF sheets at agreed milestones, collect your comments and update the model. When the design changes later, we update the existing model, so schedules, views and sheets stay in step. Agreed revision rounds are confirmed in the quote, so you know what is included.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Revit modeling services?

Revit modeling services build 3D building models in Autodesk Revit from your drawings, PDFs or sketches, with views, sheets and schedules ready for use.

Can you model from PDF drawings?

Yes. Clear, vector PDFs give the best results. If you have CAD files, send those too.

Can you convert AutoCAD drawings to Revit?

Yes. We rebuild 2D CAD drawings as real Revit elements, so you get a working model with schedules and views.

Which Revit version do you use?

We work in the Revit version your team uses, because Revit files cannot be opened in older versions.

Can you use our Revit template and families?

Yes. Send your template, family library and standards, and we will model to them.

Do you create custom Revit families?

Yes. We build parametric families for doors, windows, fixtures and equipment when your project needs them.

Do you model MEP and structure in Revit?

Yes. We model architectural, structural and MEP elements. See our MEP design and BIM coordination.

What do you deliver?

The Revit model file, plus PDF sheets, DWG exports, IFC files or Excel schedules if you ask for them.

Can you support our team with overflow work?

Yes. Many firms use us for extra Revit modeling capacity when their own team is busy.

Can the model be used for quantities?

Yes. We set up schedules for materials and elements that can be used in your estimate.

How long does a Revit model take?

Timing depends on the size of the project and the level of detail. Send your files and deadline, and we will confirm the timeline before we start.

How much does a Revit model cost?

Each quote depends on the scope, size and deadline. Send your files, and we will quote before we start.
